In April 1996, Refuse & Resist! convened Resist '96 - a national conference of activists - in New York City. That conference drew together people from many different social movements and from across the US for two days of discussion, debate and planning. Out of that meeting came the call to make October 1996 a Month of Resistance and a number of important new initiatives including the National Day of Appreciation for Abortion Providers, the National Day of Protest Against Police Brutality, national demonstrations to support Mumia Abu-Jamal, and a range of other activities.
All of the documents in this section were published in 1996.
