Refuse & Resist! calls on all people of conscience to resist all war moves against Iraq. The people of Iraq are not our enemy, they have suffered enough. As the only country ever to use atomic "weapons of mass destruction", the United States has no right to act as a moral arbiter throughout the world.
The terms of debate become deliberately clouded during preparations for military attacks. We will not be fooled by the propaganda that calls the Iraqi people our enemy. We will not allow innocent people to be murdered in a global power game between countries who recognize the military and economic importance of the Persian Gulf. We will not allow anti-Arab sentiment to flourish in the United States. Any businesses that discriminate against Arab people must be exposed and shut down.
Refuse & Resist! calls on members of the armed forces to refuse to become involved in any actions against Iraq. We call on all Americans to stand with the soldiers who refuse to fight. Refuse & Resist! is proud that one of our members, Corporal Jeff Patterson, was the first GI to refuse to serve in the 1991 Gulf War.
Refuse & Resist! will expose all efforts at press censorship which were the rule during the 1991 Gulf War. The full impact of military carnage must be known by all Americans.
Refuse & Resist! sees this attack on Iraq as a part of the whole agenda we are fighting. This bombing is an example of what our founding statement called an attitude of "America First" the viewpoint that this country should be the political and economic leader of the world. The leaders of this country continue to build for war at the same time as the poor are punished and scapegoated and a repressive political agenda is being enforced. Refuse & Resist! unites people from all walks of life to say no to the whole package.
