The following letter from Mumia Abu-Jamal was read by Francis Goldin to a meeting held in New York on December 9 to pay tribute to Mumia and his 20 years of resistance behind bars.

It is perhaps strange tp begin with thanks to y'all; but that's where I begin. And I mean it. Thanks. Thank you all!
There are thousands of men and women (and yes, sadly, juveniles) who are bereft of any such support, and as I am mindful of them, I am also ever mindful of you. I thank you.
For being there, for joining this battle, and for continuing to battle on; for not being cowed by the forces of fear, of state terrorism, of a whore's media sold to the highest bidder; I think you!
This battle rages on -- undiminished! As it must, 'cause it's right. Simple as that, my friends. A few days ago I recieved a card from a woman from California. It bore a message that bears repeating: "Brother, remember," she wrote. "You are already 'free'; in fact you are 'freer' than many." -- I like to think that's more a rap on the repressive nature of modern-day, martial law America, than an accurate statement of my situation. Yet, there's truth in it, yes? Well, let us strive for greater freedom!
Thank you all!
