Japanese translation of Live from Death Row

I'm happy to let you all know that Japanese translation of Mumia's "Live from Death Row" has published.

I had been working on this translation for more than an year since I got Mumia's agreement concerning the publication of Japanese version of his masterpiece.

While the publishing world in Japan resembles Hollywood, with blockbusters insubstantial tales that will never expose the reality of our societies, I believe that his book will reach a varied readership. Progressive journalists, lawmakers, lawyers, scholars, students, human-rights advocates are his potential readers. Ordinary people who are interested in the culture and society of the Unites States may also be drawn to his book. However they might be confused by the gap between his description and their own long-held images to America. Well, that will be a good lesson for the people.

Nationally influential and very popular TV anchorperson, Mr. Chikushi Tetsuya, contributed a recommendation for the book. Which says:

You will encounter a strange visage of the United States in this book, that is very different from what you have long been told. That is, a world leading prison state filled with racial prejudice.

Supposing if you were a juror, would you vote for the death penalty for the writer? To a profound critic of America's injustice, the most celebrated death-row inmate in the world, the voice of the voiceless. Are you sure?

I hope this book will contribute to promote Free-Mumia activities in Japan.
