Yesterday, April 24, 1998, Steve Weiser visited Mumia Abu-Jamal and Mumia informed Steve that the prisoners and decided to stop the hunger strike and fight the Department of Corrections represive act of taking custody of legal papers legally. They ask that people still protest this terrible situation to Commissioner Horne and Governor Ridge.
The men feel very strongly that the state agency that can sign death warrants and is the utlimate executioner should NOT BE THE CUSTODIAN of their legal papers. Arrangements must be made for the men to have ALL THEIR LEGAL PAPERS IN THEIR CELLS and not have to beg the Dept of Corrections (DOC) for papers, naming the papers in an itemized list.
Please continue your protests and even step up the pressure.
